Courts, not EC, hold key to election disputes - Fred Agbenyo

Guan MP Fred Agbenyo has criticized the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for contesting parliamentary election results through press conferences rather than legal channels.

Speaking on TV3’s New Day, he asserted that the Electoral Commission (EC) has no authority to determine winners or losers once results are declared.

Article 99 of Ghana’s Constitution, Mr. Agbenyo emphasized that only the courts can resolve election disputes, urging adherence to constitutional processes.

He labeled the NPP’s approach as hypocritical, questioning whether they would make similar demands if roles were reversed.

His comments come amid heated debates over election results in several constituencies, with calls for all parties to respect democratic principles and pursue grievances through proper legal frameworks.
