Douglas Quartey, a Development Consultant at IDEG, has urged political party agents to resist misinformation and disinformation during the 2024 elections, warning that these could jeopardize peaceful outcomes.
Speaking on JoyNews’ Newsfile on November 30, he emphasized the critical role of polling agents in ensuring transparency and professionalism during observation, counting, and reporting processes.
Quartey encouraged political parties to educate their agents about respecting democratic principles, reminding them that elections inevitably produce winners and losers.
He also highlighted the need for stakeholders, including the Electoral Commission (EC), to prioritize clear communication and address concerns constructively to maintain trust.
While commending the EC’s experience in organizing elections, Quartey stressed the importance of timely and transparent updates to build public confidence and ensure a peaceful electoral process.
