The Beverage Consumers and Bar Owners Association of Ghana has directed all bar owners and bartenders to close their establishments from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Election Day, December 7, 2024.
This measure aims to discourage alcohol consumption before voting, which the group believes could impair judgment, lead to unruly behavior, and increase rejected ballots.
In a statement signed by President Moses Onyah, the association emphasized the importance of maintaining order and focus during the elections.
The directive applies to all bars, pubs, and similar venues across the country.
The group called on bar owners and consumers to support the initiative, urging them to prioritize a peaceful and transparent electoral process.
This effort seeks to promote a conducive environment at polling stations.
