EC assures Ablekuma North results safe despite fire outbreak

The Electoral Commission (EC) has assured the public that the results of the Ablekuma North Constituency Parliamentary election remain secure despite a fire destroying ballot papers and other electoral materials at the Kwashieman Cluster of Schools on December 17, 2024.

Speaking at a Ghana Center for Democratic Development (CDD) event, Dr. Serebour Quaicoe, EC’s Director for Training, confirmed alternative methods are available to verify and collate the results.

He stressed the importance of respecting voters' decisions and warned against actions that could disrupt the electoral process.

"The will of the voter must be upheld, not overridden by technicalities or intimidation," he said.

The EC remains committed to ensuring the integrity of the election, promising transparency and swift resolution of the dispute.
