EC blames lawlessness for re-collation of parliamentary results

Electoral Commission Electoral Commission

The Deputy Director of Research at the Electoral Commission (EC), Fred Tetteh, has linked the re-collation of parliamentary results in several constituencies to widespread lawlessness by political parties and their supporters.

Speaking on Channel One TV program on December 21, 2024, Tetteh revealed that disruptions in constituencies such as Nsawam Adoagyiri, Techiman South, Dome Kwabenya, and others hindered the EC’s work.

He described incidents of supporters and candidates besieging collation centers, preventing officials from completing their duties.

Tetteh called for stricter adherence to electoral laws and urged political parties to instill discipline among their supporters to avert future disruptions, emphasizing the impact of these actions on the credibility of the electoral process.
