The Electoral Commission (EC) has expanded media accreditations for covering constituency and regional collation centres to 4,500, up from the initially suggested minimum of 3,308.

At a press conference on November 29, EC Chairperson Jean Mensa confirmed that the accreditation cards will be handed over to the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) and the Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association (GIBA) for distribution by Sunday evening.

The EC clarified that it would not manage the allocation process, emphasizing its commitment to ensuring extensive media involvement during the December General Election.

The increase comes after consultations with GJA and GIBA, with the EC reiterating that its earlier memo aimed to guarantee minimum coverage, not restrict access.

The new allocation reflects a boost of 1,192 accreditations.
