The Electoral Commission (EC) has justified its decision to re-collate results in nine parliamentary constituencies from the December 2024 elections, amid opposition claims of irregularities.
The EC pointed to previous instances of re-collation, emphasizing that such measures are standard procedure to ensure the accuracy of results.
Notably, during Dr. Afari Gyan’s tenure, the EC re-collated results in constituencies like Pru, Tolon, Yapei-Kusawgu, and Zabzugu in the 2004 parliamentary elections, as well as in the KEEA District in the 1998 District Level Elections.
The EC stated that re-collating results due to errors, disruptions, or legal challenges is necessary to uphold the integrity of Ghana’s electoral process.
