The Electoral Commission (EC) has addressed concerns raised by the NDC over the alleged mishandling of a biometric verification device in Kwadaso.
The NDC claimed the device, meant to be stored securely at a police depot, was found in an EC officer's office before the special voting exercise.
Ashanti Regional NDC Chairman, Augustus Nana Kwasi Andrews, condemned the incident as a breach of protocol and called for sanctions against the officer involved.
However, the EC clarified that the issue was an irregularity caused by a misunderstanding.
Ashanti Regional EC Director, Frank Osei, explained that the officer had mistakenly taken the device to the office but promptly returned it to the designated location once corrected.
Osei assured the public that the situation has been resolved and emphasized the commission’s commitment to a secure and transparent electoral process.
