With Ghana's 2024 general elections approaching, the Electoral Commission (EC) has raised concerns over misinformation and fake news, urging citizens to rely on verified sources.
Dr. Serebour Quaicoo, Director of Training at the EC, highlighted his worry about the spread of unverified information that could disrupt the electoral process.
In an interview on Tuesday, November 12, Dr. Quaicoo noted that both traditional and social media outlets sometimes rush to publish news without ensuring accuracy, which may lead to public confusion.
He cautioned against sharing misleading content, including potentially unrelated videos falsely linked to the elections, and stressed the need for factual, reliable information throughout the electoral period.
