The European Union (EU) Ambassador to Ghana, Irchad Ramiandrasoa Razaaly, has praised Ghana for its exemplary democracy during the December 7 elections.
In a statement, Razaaly commended the peaceful voting process, professional conduct of polling staff, and the active role of security forces. EU diplomats, alongside representatives from Norway and Switzerland, visited 430 polling stations across 10 regions, observing an orderly process.
The EU supported domestic efforts by funding the deployment of 4,000 local observers and collaborating with institutions like IDEG, CODEO, and WANEP to ensure smooth elections.
Razaaly congratulated President-elect John Dramani Mahama on his decisive victory and acknowledged Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s dignified concession.
The Ambassador emphasized Ghana’s democratic culture as a model for Africa and expressed eagerness to strengthen EU-Ghana relations under the new administration.
