The Winneba District Court has granted bail of GHC 50,000 to Louisa Buabeng, an independent candidate in the Effutu parliamentary elections, and her campaign coordinator, Dauda Murtalib Monkaizil.

The bail requires three sureties, all of whom must be district police officers with ranks of at least Chief Inspector.

Buabeng was remanded on November 28 after her arrest over an election-related case. The re-arrest, linked to multiple voter ID cards found at an aide’s residence, raised concerns of potential electoral violations.

The case was heard in the absence of both accused individuals. Buabeng's legal battles have drawn significant attention amid heightened scrutiny during Ghana's election season.
