Ahead of Ghana’s elections, the National Elections Security Taskforce, led by IGP George Akuffo Dampare, has cautioned private security operatives to avoid interfering with state security efforts.

This follows past election violence involving vigilante groups.

During a meeting with private security organizations, Dampare assured Ghanaians of their safety, emphasizing that state agencies are solely responsible for election security. He urged voters to feel confident and free from intimidation while casting their ballots.

The IGP also appealed to political parties to trust the measures in place and refrain from deploying their own security teams.

The taskforce engaged with the Commonwealth Observer Mission, led by Botswana’s former president Mokgweetsi Masisi, reaffirming their readiness for peaceful elections.
