The Electoral Commission (EC) has restricted media and observer access to collation centres for the 2024 general election to ensure smooth operations.

Each constituency collation centre will permit only eight media outlets, while regional centres will allow 12, comprising five TV and seven radio stations.

Dr. Eric Bossman Asare, Deputy EC Commissioner, explained the measures aim to streamline the process and prevent disruptions.

Speaking on Eyewitness News (November 26), he emphasized that limiting numbers at sensitive collation centres, such as Banda, Hohoe, or Bantama, enhances efficiency and avoids challenges.

He noted that the policy applies broadly, not just to the media, highlighting the EC's commitment to a secure and orderly collation exercise at all levels.
