Edward Omane Boamah, Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has accused a political party of plotting to print 2.5 million counterfeit ballot papers ahead of Ghana's December 7 elections.

Speaking after an emergency Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting on December 1, 2024, Omane revealed that the NDC had been monitoring intelligence for seven months, which suggested such a plan.

He linked the defaced ballot paper found in the Eastern Region to this alleged plot, suggesting it was an attempt to study the security features of the official ballots for replication.

Omane warned that if the plot proceeds, the NDC would cooperate with authorities to make arrests.
