Dr. Pumpuni Asante, Director of Policy Engagements and Partnerships at CCD-Ghana, has raised concerns over the unclear role of the armed forces in ensuring a peaceful December 7 election.
Speaking on JoyNews’ Newsfile, he highlighted that while the army will not be stationed at polling stations, their presence at collation centres remains uncertain.
Dr. Asante emphasized the need for transparency and clear communication about security arrangements to manage public expectations.
He noted that election-related tensions often arise from perceptions of unfairness, rather than disruptions from miscreants, and urged the public to be informed about security protocols.
He stressed that if the army is involved, its role must be well-defined to ensure smooth operations.
