A group of lecturers from the University for Development Studies (UDS) has declared support for John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, ahead of the December 7 elections.
In a joint statement, the lecturers accused the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) of authoritarianism and undermining democratic institutions, citing the judiciary, Electoral Commission, and security agencies. They also criticized the NPP for allegedly eroding the Auditor-General’s independence.
Highlighting Mahama’s leadership style, the group described him as empathetic and committed to democracy and good governance.
They urged Ghanaians to reject Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and the NPP, accusing them of divisive politics and corruption.
The lecturers called for votes to honor the memory of those who died in the 2020 elections, advocating for an era of unity and progress under Mahama’s leadership.
