With just 24 hours to Ghana’s elections, bus terminals nationwide are overcrowded as travelers rush to their constituencies to cast their votes.
The holiday has exacerbated the situation, with heightened chaos at key terminals.
In Takoradi, Western Region, tensions flared as travelers accused station operators of favoritism.
Some arrived as early as 5 a.m. but were still stranded.
Reports indicate that many buses were hired by MPs and political actors to transport supporters, leaving few vehicles for the public.
Similar issues were observed in Tamale, where limited buses caused scuffles, though calm has since been restored.
In Bawku, heightened security checks and escorts have slowed travel due to the area’s volatile nature.
In Accra, travelers at Kwame Nkrumah Circle braved long queues, determined to reach their hometowns to vote.
Many cited the elections as their primary reason for traveling.
