A viral Facebook post by a user claiming that President Nana Akufo-Addo's statue outside the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Sekondi was toppled, has been debunked.
The Ghana Fact-Checking Coalition investigated the claim using a Google reverse image search and determined it to be false.
The purported image of the toppled statue is not from Ghana but of Confederate General William Carter Wickham, whose statue was dismantled during the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests in the United States.
The coalition confirmed that Akufo-Addo’s statue in Sekondi remains intact.
