Investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni criticized MPs blaming their electoral defeat on the government's anti-galamsey stance.
In a Facebook post, Awuni argued that these MPs, including Mireku Duker, lost due to their lack of genuine commitment to fighting illegal mining.
He highlighted that affected communities are frustrated by land degradation and water pollution caused by galamsey, which politicians often overlook.
Awuni pointed out that many politicians and financiers behind galamsey reside in urban areas, disconnected from impacted communities.
He stated that foreign involvement, particularly by Chinese nationals, and government inaction fueled local anger, not the anti-galamsey policies.
Awuni concluded that voters punished these MPs for neglecting their constituents' plight.
