Defense Minister Dominic Nitiwul has stated that the government should not be held accountable for any security lapses during the 2024 elections.
He clarified that the National Elections Security Task Force, led by Inspector General of Police Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, was responsible for election security.
Nitiwul responded to concerns raised by the Minority regarding the deaths of two individuals during the elections, asserting that inquiries should be directed to the Task Force, not government ministers.
He emphasized the importance of impartiality, noting that the Executive should not oversee election security to avoid conflicts of interest.
