Security Analyst Dr. Adam Bonaa has praised the Ghana Police Service for their commendable handling of the recent general elections, particularly in managing provocations from civilians.
Despite several incidents of electoral violence, including a shooting at the Nsawam Adoagyiri Constituency Collation Centre, no fatalities or cases of brutality by the police were reported.
Dr. Bonaa highlighted the improvement in police conduct, attributing it to directives from the Inspector General of Police (IGP) emphasizing non-violence.
He noted that the police focused on arresting and prosecuting offenders within the rule of law, ensuring that those breaking the law faced justice. As of now, 132 suspects have been arrested, with 45 remanded in custody.
