The International Human Rights Commission (IHRC) Ghana has urged Ghanaians to maintain peace during and after the 2024 general elections.
In a December 2 statement, the commission highlighted Ghana's history of peaceful polls and expressed confidence that this tradition would continue.
“Peaceful elections depend on every citizen’s effort to embrace tolerance, coexistence, and love for one another. Peace is costly, yet invaluable,” the IHRC noted.
The commission also called on security agencies to act professionally to prevent election-related violence and emphasized the role of political parties, the government, media, and security in ensuring free, fair, and transparent elections.
IHRC commended the Electoral Commission’s arrangements, expressing optimism for a smooth and peaceful electoral process.
