Jean Mensa voted for NPP, but she should’ve abstained from voting to ensure neutrality—Jibril

Mahdi Jibril, Deputy Director of Elections for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has criticized Electoral Commissioner Jean Mensa for allegedly voting for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia during the Special Voting Exercise.

While acknowledging her constitutional right to vote, Jibril argued that abstaining would have demonstrated neutrality and safeguarded the election's credibility.

Speaking on Rainbow Radio, Jibril claimed Mensa’s past affiliations with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) compromised her impartiality. He referenced comments she reportedly made at the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) as evidence.

Jibril further questioned the transparency and integrity of the electoral process under her leadership, suggesting her vote created unnecessary controversy.

He urged the EC to prioritize fairness over perceived partisanship to restore confidence in the electoral system.
