In a historic announcement, Electoral Commission Chair Jean Mensa declared John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) the winner of Ghana's 2024 presidential election.
Mahama secured 6,028,397 votes, representing 56.55% of valid votes cast, surpassing the 50%+1 threshold required for victory.
The elections, noted for their transparency and efficiency, featured seamless biometric verification processes and a voter turnout of 60.9% across 267 constituencies.
Despite unresolved results from nine constituencies, Mensa confirmed that their inclusion would not alter the outcome.
Jean Mensa commended the commitment of election staff, security forces, and international observers for ensuring credible and peaceful elections.
In her closing, she urged continued trust in Ghana's electoral processes, which she described as resilient and robust.
