Professor Michael Kpessa-Whyte of the University of Ghana has expressed concerns over the Electoral Commission’s (EC) transparency and readiness ahead of the upcoming elections.
He alleged on JoyNews’ Newsfile that the EC might have recruited New Patriotic Party (NPP) members for key polling station roles, potentially undermining the election's integrity. Prof. Kpessa-Whyte criticized the EC for failing to disclose the list of recruited officials, a move he says raises accountability issues.
He also highlighted logistical challenges, such as inadequate biometric verification devices in constituencies like Asawase, warning of delays and voter disenfranchisement.
Calling for urgent action, he urged the EC to publish recruitment details and ensure adequate preparations to maintain public confidence in the electoral process and its credibility.
