National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer John Mahama has warned against the spread of false information regarding the 2024 election schedule, cautioning that offenders could face prosecution under an NDC government.
Mahama’s remarks followed the arrest of Kumasi-based broadcaster Oheneba Nana Asiedu, accused of falsely claiming that voters would cast presidential ballots on different days.
Asiedu, charged with publishing false news, was granted bail after his arrest on November 23.
Speaking in Prestea Huni Valley during his Western Region campaign, Mahama denounced the misinformation as a deliberate attempt to confuse voters.
“We are all voting on the same day, December 7,” Mahama said, urging the public to disregard such claims. He stressed that spreading disinformation is a crime and warned that offenders would be held accountable.
