Media coalition congratulates President-elect

The National Media Coalition Ghana has congratulated President-elect John Dramani Mahama on his victory in the 2024 presidential election, acknowledging the maturity of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP candidate, for conceding defeat promptly.

The coalition, which includes major media organizations like the GJA, GIBA, and PRINPAG, also urged President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to maintain law and order following reports of post-election violence.

They called on the Ghana Police Service to prosecute those responsible for disturbances and asked political leaders to guide their supporters towards peace.

The coalition commended the media for its professionalism in election coverage, noting the peaceful atmosphere and safety of journalists during the election process. They emphasized the role of the media in strengthening democracy.
