Mussa Dankwah, Prof. Smart Sarpong present conflicting figures for Bawumia in Ashanti Region

Two analysts, Prof. Smart Sarpong and Mussa Dankwah, have shared differing projections for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s electoral performance in the Ashanti Region ahead of the 2024 elections.

Prof. Sarpong’s research shows Bawumia leading with 75.9% in the NPP stronghold, positioning him for a robust performance.

However, Mussa Dankwah of Global InfoAnalytics predicts a lower figure of 68%, citing voter dissatisfaction and internal party challenges.

Dankwah also reported former President John Mahama polling at 29% in Ashanti, while Sarpong places Mahama at 22.1%.

Sarpong's broader analysis suggests Bawumia leads nationally at 49.1%, ahead of Mahama's 45.8%.

Despite this, he emphasizes the potential for a first-round victory hinges on maximizing regional margins.
