The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called for an investigation into the leakage of a defaced ballot paper intended for the Eastern Region.

The Electoral Commission (EC) has since ordered a recall and reprinting of ballot papers for both the Eastern and Western Regions.

At an emergency briefing, EC Chairperson Jean Mensa confirmed the recall following National Security’s report that a single defaced ballot paper had left Checkpoint Printing Limited. The paper was reportedly earmarked for destruction. Special voting in the two regions has been postponed to Thursday, December 5.

While all parties supported the recall, the NDC and PNC demand a thorough probe.

NDC’s Dr. Omane Boamah insists on accountability, questioning arrests and transparency regarding the breach. The PNC’s Samson Awingobit echoed calls for punishment of the culprits to safeguard election integrity.
