Representatives from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have boycotted the re-collation process for the Tema Central parliamentary seat, citing concerns over procedural fairness.
The seat, among nine constituencies ordered by the High Court for re-collation due to disputes, has seen tension between the NDC and the Electoral Commission (EC).
NDC officials, including South Dayi MP Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor and Tema Central candidate Ebi Bright, objected to the EC’s approach, claiming that the process should start afresh as per the court’s directive.
They accused Tema Metropolitan Director of the EC, Manasseh Ofosuhene Asante, of bias in favor of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The NDC also called for the returning officer to oversee the process, rather than the Tema Metropolitan Director, further escalating the dispute.
