The Electoral Commission (EC) has officially declared Faustina Elikplim Akurugu of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as the Member of Parliament-elect for the Dome Kwabenya constituency in the Greater Accra Region.
This follows the cancellation of a proposed re-run at one polling station.
The EC's decision was finalized after resolving issues related to the December 7 parliamentary election results.
Returning Officer James Zakaria Kofi confirmed Akurugu's victory with 50,967 votes, narrowly defeating the New Patriotic Party’s Michael Aaron Oquaye Jnr., who garnered 50,669 votes.
Other candidates, Dora Nyako and Remy Parkour Edmerson, received 220 and 302 votes, respectively.
Out of 102,782 total votes cast, 624 were rejected, leaving 102,158 valid votes. Akurugu’s win secures her seat as MP-elect for Dome Kwabenya.
