The National Identification Authority (NIA) has left over 10,000 young recruits unpaid for two months after deploying them for the under-15 Ghana Card registration exercise.
These workers, now stranded nationwide, lack the resources to return home to vote in the December 7 elections.
One recruit described their plight: “We trusted the system but have been left broke and abandoned. Many of us don’t know how we’ll make it home to vote.”
This negligence not only creates financial hardship but also risks disenfranchising voters, casting a shadow over the election's integrity.
The NIA must urgently address this by paying the recruits their due wages, restoring trust and ensuring these young Ghanaians can participate in shaping the nation’s future.
