The Electoral Commission (EC) has declared Charles Forson of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as the Member of Parliament-elect for the Tema Central constituency.

The declaration on Sunday, January 5, 2025, followed the collation of outstanding results from two polling stations, as directed by the Accra High Court on Saturday.

Charles Forson secured 18,870 votes, narrowly defeating Ebi Bright of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who garnered 18,815 votes.

An Independent candidate received 209 votes, with 114 ballots rejected from a total of 38,038 votes cast.

The court ruling arose after the NPP contested the earlier declaration of the NDC candidate as the winner, citing incomplete collation. The EC acted promptly, concluding the collation under police security.

Meanwhile, the NDC has filed appeals challenging rulings in Tema Central and three other constituencies: Ablekuma North, Techiman South, and Okaikwei Central.
