The Electoral Commission (EC) has lauded the efficiency of its Biometric Verification Devices (BVDs) during the 2024 general elections, citing a drastic reduction in voter processing times.
According to Dr. Benjamin Banor-Bioh, Director of Electoral Services, the devices enabled each voter to be processed in under three minutes, streamlining the voting process.
Despite media reports of voter apathy in some constituencies, Dr. Banor-Bioh described voter turnout as “massive,” noting the elections were conducted smoothly compared to previous years. He attributed this success to strategic preparations and the effective use of BVD technology.
While specific turnout figures remain unavailable, the EC remains optimistic about the seamless voting process as vote counting and collation progress toward final results.
