Patrick Yaw Boamah declared Okaikwei Central MP-elect

The Electoral Commission (EC) has declared Patrick Yaw Boamah of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as the Member of Parliament-elect for the Okaikwei Central constituency in the Greater Accra Region.

Boamah secured 21,099 votes, defeating Abdulai Abu Baba Saddiq of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who polled 19,368 votes.

The declaration followed a High Court ruling on January 4, granting the NPP's application to compel the EC to complete the collation of results for 31 outstanding polling stations.

Justice Forson Agyapong ruled that the EC's failure to finalize the collation breached its obligations and issued an order for immediate completion.

The EC promptly complied, paving the way for Boamah's victory declaration.

The NDC has, however, appealed rulings in four constituencies, including Okaikwei Central.
