The Ghana Police Service is investigating 88 individuals intercepted aboard two Metro Mass Transit buses near Benchema, Western North Region, on Tuesday, December 3, 2024.

Preliminary findings suggest the individuals were recruited by a man known as Sammy from Greater Accra locations, including Adenta, Oyarifa, and Madina.

They were allegedly being transported to provide security at polling stations in constituencies within the Western North Region.

The suspects are currently in police custody, assisting with investigations.

Authorities are actively searching for Sammy, the alleged recruiter, to advance the inquiry.

This development raises concerns about unauthorized involvement in election security as the country approaches the December 7 polls.
