The Electoral Commission (EC) has clarified that the printing of additional ballot papers in the Volta and Bono regions was a standard procedure to ensure accuracy and avoid shortfalls during the upcoming elections.
EC officials and party agents verified the ballots upon arrival, identifying any shortages, which were then printed to maintain accountability.
Similar shortages were noted in other regions, and political parties were notified for oversight during the printing process.
The EC also announced the appointment of collation officers to independently oversee election result compilation at constituency and regional levels, sparking concerns from political parties over potential conflicts with presiding officers.
Meanwhile, preparations for the Special Voting on December 2, 2024, are underway.
