The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has called on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to act swiftly to restore peace and stability following widespread unrest linked to the 2024 general election results.
Reports indicate that state institutions have been vandalized, with disturbances attributed to alleged supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, GJA President, emphasized the President’s responsibility as Commander-in-Chief to ensure security forces address the tensions and maintain order until the transition of power on January 7.
The GJA also urged political leaders and civil society to work together in de-escalating the situation, stressing the importance of upholding Ghana’s democratic integrity and reputation as a model of peace in Africa.
