Dr. Mohamed Ibn Chambas Dr. Mohamed Ibn Chambas

Dr. Mohamed Ibn Chambas, the African Union High Representative for Silencing the Guns, has urged Ghanaians, especially political parties, to ensure a violence-free December election.

Speaking at the signing of the 4th Presidential Election Peace Pact in Accra, Dr. Chambas emphasized Ghana’s responsibility to uphold its leadership in democratic governance.

He noted that international observers, including delegations from ECOWAS, the African Union, and the Commonwealth, are closely monitoring the process.

He called on stakeholders, including the media, judiciary, security forces, and the Electoral Commission, to maintain neutrality and avoid actions that could harm the country’s reputation.

“This is an opportunity for Ghana to demonstrate its commitment to peaceful and credible elections,” Chambas stated.
