Special voting for the Western and Eastern Regions is underway today, December 5, after a postponement from December 2 due to a ballot paper leakage.

The Electoral Commission (EC) swiftly addressed the incident by recalling and reprinting the compromised papers to uphold electoral integrity.

EC Chairperson Jean Mensa announced the decision at an emergency briefing on December 1, emphasizing the need to safeguard the process before the 2024 General Election.

Deputy EC Chairperson Dr. Bossman Asare confirmed that preparations for the exercise were complete, with materials dispatched to 33 voting centres in the Eastern Region and 17 in the Western Region.

He urged registered voters, including security personnel, media, and election officials, to participate, as no alternate voting opportunity will be provided on December 7.
