The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced that special voting recorded an impressive minimum turnout of 83% nationwide ahead of the December 7 elections.

EC Chairperson Jean Mensa, addressing the media in her final pre-election briefing, described the exercise as highly successful.

She highlighted the Commission’s readiness for the polls, confirming the distribution of adequate election materials to all regions, ensuring no anticipated shortages.

Mrs. Mensa revealed that 18,774,159 registered voters are expected to participate in the general election, representing 55% of the population.

The EC also issued nearly 10,000 accreditations to journalists and over 20,000 to local and international observers, equipped with maps for easy navigation of polling centres, to enhance transparency and monitoring efforts.
