Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Works and Housing Minister and MP for Ofoase/Ayirebi, has urged Ghana's political class to prioritize listening to citizens, emphasizing that power ultimately rests with the people.

Speaking to JoyNews, he stressed the importance of public accountability, warning leaders to heed voter concerns as their mandates last only four years.

His comments come after significant losses for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in parliamentary elections, with the opposition NDC securing a majority.

Although Oppong Nkrumah retained his seat with 58.1% of the vote, he noted a decline in voter turnout due to dissatisfaction with party management and internal processes.

He called for the NPP to address voter grievances, foster internal dialogue, and adapt to the “wind of change” sweeping Ghana to regain public trust.
