The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) President, Albert Dwumfuor, has raised concerns over the Ghana Police Service’s initiative to station liaison officers at media houses during the December 7 elections.

While acknowledging the intent to protect media practitioners, Dwumfuor questioned whether the initiative might interfere with media operations or compromise confidentiality.

He highlighted concerns about potential information leaks and transparency, asking which media houses were selected and on what basis.

Dwumfuor also criticized the exclusion of the GJA leadership from the consultation meeting with the Police, calling it a deliberate attempt to sideline their oversight role.

The GJA has called for clarity on the initiative to ensure it does not undermine press freedom during the elections.
