Cocoa Road Contractors have threatened to boycott the upcoming general elections and stage protests on election day if the government fails to settle over GH¢3 billion owed to them by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD).
Despite repeated promises, the contractors say their efforts to secure payment have been unsuccessful.
In an interview on Peace FM on November 27, 2024, they vowed to carry out their plans unless their demands are met. The contractors, frustrated by years of unpaid work, emphasized the urgency of their claims.
The Ghana Chamber of Construction Industry (GCCI) has expressed support for their cause, although Vice Chairman Nana Opare Kwarfo urged caution, warning that the planned protest could have serious consequences during ongoing negotiations.
