The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has accused the Ashanti Regional Electoral Commission (EC) Director of breaching electoral protocols during Monday’s special voting exercise.
NDC Deputy Director of Elections, Dr. Rashid Tanko-Computer, claimed the EC barred his party from sealing ballot boxes, violating election regulations. He described this as a threat to Ghana’s democracy.
Dr. Tanko said that despite senior EC officials intervening, some districts acted on the director's initial instructions. He also alleged that validation stamp numbers were withheld from party agents, breaching CI 127 regulations.
In response, NPP’s Director of Research, Evans Nimako, dismissed the concerns as exaggerated, urging the NDC to resolve such matters through proper channels instead of escalating tension unnecessarily.
