We’re disappointed with Police ‘lackadaisical’ handling of unfolding lawlessness – NPP

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Steering Committee has expressed strong dissatisfaction with the Ghana Police Service’s handling of post-election violence and lawlessness.

In a statement issued after an emergency meeting on December 10, the NPP condemned acts of vandalism, intimidation, and destruction allegedly committed by supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The party claimed that their parliamentary candidates and Electoral Commission (EC) officials were held at gunpoint in constituencies such as Fanteakwa North, Nsawam-Adoagyiri, and Techiman South, forcing them to declare results under duress.

The NPP criticized the police for their perceived inaction and called for a stronger response to hold perpetrators accountable.

While urging calm among their supporters, the NPP emphasized the importance of upholding the rule of law and called on the NDC to denounce violence by its supporters.
