President-elect John Dramani Mahama is expected to appoint his representatives to the Transition Team within 24 hours, as required by the Presidential (Transition) Act, 2012, Graphic Online reports.
This team will facilitate the smooth transfer of power between President Nana Akufo-Addo and Mahama.
Under the law, Mahama’s appointees will mirror those of Akufo-Addo’s representatives, including key officials such as the Chief of Staff, Attorney-General, and ministers for critical portfolios like Finance, Defence, and National Security.
The Transition Team, which must meet within 48 hours, will handle logistics for the transition, including national security briefings for Mahama and ensuring the payment of entitlements for outgoing officials.
Both presidents can either chair or delegate leadership of their respective teams.
