Several political parties in Ghana, including the All People’s Congress (APC) and the Movement for Change, are demanding the resignation of Electoral Commission (EC) Chair Jean Mensa, citing mismanagement of the 2024 general elections.
APC’s Presidential Candidate criticized delays in collating and announcing results, calling the situation “unacceptable” and advocating for digital voting systems to streamline future elections.
He also highlighted instances of election-related violence, urging authorities to act against offenders.
Similarly, Courage Nobi, Deputy Policy Director for the Movement for Change, labeled the election process poorly managed and called for the EC’s leadership to voluntarily step down to pave the way for reforms.
In contrast, CPP Deputy Secretary Joyce Larbi commended the EC for conducting a largely peaceful election, emphasizing the challenges of organizing national polls.
