Court dismisses case against Independent Candidate Louisa Buabeng

Prosecution failed to provide evidence over three court hearings Prosecution failed to provide evidence over three court hearings

The Winneba District Court has dismissed the case against Louisa Buabeng, an independent parliamentary candidate in the recent Effutu Constituency elections, due to the prosecution's failure to present sufficient evidence.

Buabeng and her campaign coordinator, Dauda Murtalib Moukazil, had been charged with "unlawful possession of documents" and "conspiracy to commit crime" after a voter ID card was found in Moukazil's possession.

However, the prosecution failed to provide evidence over three court hearings, leading to the case being struck out on December 10, 2024.

Buabeng's counsel, Jennifred Maurice Adjei, announced plans to seek compensation for the violation of her client’s rights, including filing a case for malicious prosecution and unlawful detention, with a GHC 4 million claim.
