A Koforidua High Court will decide on Monday, January 6, 2025, whether to lift an interim injunction preventing the swearing-in of Ernest Kumi as the MP-elect for Akwatia.

The injunction, filed by NDC candidate Henry Boakye Yiadom, was granted on January 2, barring the Electoral Commission (EC), Kumi, and Parliament’s Clerk from proceeding with the swearing-in.

NPP counsel, Gary Nimako Marfo, argued the injunction was improperly filed and urged the court to dismiss it, asserting election results can only be challenged 21 days post-gazette.

NDC lawyer Bernard Bediako Baidoo countered, stating election results can be contested immediately upon declaration.
